Exams
For both children and adults, two dental exams each year are recommended by The Academy of General Dentistry. Doing this minimizes the risk of gum disease, problems with tooth structure, cavities and oral cancer among other dental issues.
On exams, we begin with a visual examination of the mouth, looking for problems or abnormalities. Intra-oral cameras help us look closely at the tissues and tooth structure of the month. Dental x-rays, taken with our digital x-ray technology that uses only 10% of the radiation of traditional x-ray, reveals structural issues in the teeth and gums. Oral cancer screenings are also done in dental exams with the purpose being early detection should something unusual be present in the mouth.
Generally, a dental exam is a short but important diagnostic process.
